US Women's National Team Part 2

Thankfully, there are plenty of cards for the USWNT.  Some of the bigger name players, and some of the more... marketable players (Alex Morgan, Hope Solo, etc.) have crossed over into other products.  Their card prices are still peanuts compared to top flight men's players, which perhaps reflects the ignorance of the world to the quality of their on-field performance.  As my wife loves soccer and the USWNT, it would seem an obvious group of players for us to collect.  In fact, we have quite a bit of autografts and game-worn material from the USWNT.

My favorite set, however, doesn't come in a traditional box/pack format.  I have always been a sucker for the "Silhouette" format with a picture of the player superimposed over a swatch of jersey or patch with an autograph on top.  While the soccer releases unfortunately don't respect my desire to completely avoid sticker autos, these cards were just too darned good looking to ignore.  I believe that these are all out of the inaugural United States National Team Box Set (set with random game used and autographs) which I believe was 2016-17, but please don't quote me on that.  These sets aren't opened too frequently, so they don't really hit the secondary market all that commonly.  I think that the USMNT missing out on the world cup won't help that any.  Maybe we'll have to wait until 2019 for the next Women's World Cup to roll around to generate any interest.

The world can talk all they want about equality, but the women deserve more respect than they garner.  In the meantime, we'll continue to enjoy picking up these beautiful cards at cheaper prices.
