Throwback Basketball Set
I don't do a lot of basketball collecting, but I fell in love with the Bowman '48 set. It was a throwback to the 1948 set, and it was really a lot of fun. The rookies were all serial numbered, and there was a blue bordered full set parallel (including rookies) that was also serial numbered. There was also a 30 card autograph set with legends like Bill Russell (SP), Larry Bird (SSP) and Bill Walton (SSSP).
Though they were sticker autos, I think they were incorporated into the retro card design well. All except the Magic which had a ridiculous sticker on it. There were also jersey autographs, patch autographs, and black bordered parallels. It was a tremendous set and easy to put together, except for the few SP autographs, especially the Bill Walton which was really hard to find in white border.
It was also affordable... At the time. Now I'm sure its crazy expensive if you can find it. There haven't been a lot of cool throwbacks since then, which is a shame.
