The Greatest Surfer of All Time

With all respect to Duke Kahanamoku, and I really do mean that as I am from Hawaii, Kelly Slater is the best professional surfer of all time.  The breadth and depth of his career cannot be matched by any other mortal.  He's won so many titles that he ran out of fingers, and was both the youngest and the oldest surfer to win the title.  He's also, by all reports, a pretty good dude.  He received a resolution in the United States House of Representatives honoring his achievements as well as for being a good role model.  He's also an entrepreneur and has driven forward surfing technology as well as wave creation technology.

He signed for some older SportKings products, which incidentally were some of my favorite cards of all time - On-Card hard-signed with sport-used memorabilia at low prices, these cards rocked.  He has also signed for goodwin and for Upper Deck All Time Greats, which was an amazing set full of A-List autographs.  You only had to dodge a ton of Pete Rose and a few other lesser guys.  Good news was that there was a lot of Lebron, Jordan, and Tiger, so the product had a lot opened.  Slater was not one of the "desirable" hits and so a lot of his stuff hit the secondary market.  You can still find stuff at great prices.  Considering his dominance, it's a bargain.
