Mr. Nickname
How cool is it when players take the time to sign their nickname onto cards? I know in this day and age most players are signing thousands of pieces of cardboard, and I can't blame them for just scribbling their names. Heck, I can't even blame them for signing a couple of initials or even just a single letter and a line like some players. But when your heroes and Hall of Famers sign their nickname, it just makes things much cooler. It's been well documented that many of the old-timers put more time into their signing than a lot of the new players. Maybe its because of the quantity the new guys have to sign, or because it really is the livelihood of some of the older guys. I choose to believe it's because the older guys appreciate their place in the game and what they mean to their fans and how much people look up to them. I know that a couple of the old-timers (especially Harmon Killebrew, another gone too soon) had taken some younger guys aside and told them to put more time and effort into their signatures. If we could all be so lucky to have life mentors to keep us on the straight and narrow.
