The Best Hitting Teenager... Ever? - Part 2

In our era of advanced metrics and streaming MiLB television, this guy flew a little under the radar.  Sure, he was hurt and missed the better part of a season in the minors.  He also rocketed through the system and spent just a little more than 100 games in the minors before making the show.  He was supposed to be a stopgap.  It wasn't like he wasn't totally unheralded, but nobody thought that he would deliver like he did.  Instead of being a stopgap, he turned out to be a teenager with the best plate discipline, power, and strike zone control that has patrolled the majors since, well, arguably ever.

There have been comparisons with Mel Ott, and a few some other Hall of Famers, as well as those destined for greatness before devastating injury (Tony Conigliaro).  Some of those other 'less great' teenagers?  Ty Cobb, Ken Griffey Jr., and Mickey Mantle.  I'm not saying the kid is destined to be an all time great, but he sure put up numbers that make it look like he's a star and here to stay.  Considering he only came up because of injuries to multiple outfielders as well as the top Nationals prospect Victor Robles (a superstar OF prospect in his own right, and who saw the majors in 2017 for a cup of coffee), it is truly remarkable what Juan has accomplished.  And very few, if any, saw it coming.  At least not like this.  That makes it just that much more awesome.
