Son of a HOF'er

When your dad is a Hall of Famer, you have a lot of expectations to live up to when you enter the professional baseball world.  When you are the Number One overall prospect, even above Shohei Ohtani who is labeled at the Japanese Base Ruth, you have a of expectations to live up to.  When you hit near .400 through the minors, destroying pitching at every level, you have a lot of expectations to live up to.

Like many expected Vladimir Guerrero Jr. or "Vladito" was called up to the Blue Jays during the 2019 season.  So were many of his famous friends who were sons of famous players like Bo Bichette (Son of Dante) and Cavan Biggio (Son of Craig).  They were exciting, and they were dynamic.  And Vladito did not live up to expectation.

Sometimes the hype train doesn't keep speeding down the tracks at breakneck rates.  At 20 years old, Vladito's numbers are plenty good, at least on offense.  But when we see what Juan Soto and Ronald Acuna are doing, it just isn't good enough.  This guy was hyped just as much as Acuna, and while the train perhaps did not gather as much steam as it did with Bryce Harper or Stephen Strasburg back in 2011/2012, it was steaming pretty hard.  Now, I think the guy is going to be a fantastic ballplayer, but who knows what his hobby ceiling is going forward.
