Bond Bread
Many of us are familiar with the idea that baseball cards and collectible cards in general sprung out of the idea of selling other products. The tobacco cards were called that for a reason. Heck, even the sticks of gum persisted until the early 90's. But other products used cards to sell themselves as well. Whether it be cookies or bread, cards came everywhere.
Some of the older cards are actually quite rare and highly valued, even in poor condition. You can imagine a card that came in a loaf of bread almost 75 years ago probably wouldn't be in the best shape. The most interesting thing to me about the Bond Bread 1947 set is that all the cards feature Jackie Robinson. Now, the guys over at Net54 could probably tell you a lot more about the set. And I'll be honest, I don't know much about the card other than thinking it's pretty neat. And appreciating the fact that I got it as a bonus in a box from Houdini on Blowoutcards. A story for another day!
