2020 Topps Transcendent Party Part 4
The man needed no introduction, but they still had a great career highlight video for Ken Griffey Jr. He was just as humble and glowing as you would expect. His advise was practical, and he was the definition of humility. He kept saying that he was just a regular guy, or the assistant to the assistant to the assistant. He did some Q&A with the Topps guys, then answered a few audience questions. Unfortunately, he didn't come around to the tables individually like Mike Trout did, but it still was a great experience.
The food was nothing to scoff at either, and the filet was just as good as last year. But nobody was really there for the food. Some highlights of the anecdotes from Junior:
It's really all about the effort. He's never pulled a kid off the field (football, which all his boys play) for making a mistake.
His favorite players are Acuna, Harper, and Trout. He also likes The "Axe Murderer" Chris Davis.
There was always a contest for who pays for dinner. He liked treating his mom.
He had a great time playing with his dad.
You don't want to lead the league in triples, it's too much running. Just hit a double and give a little fake, advance to third if they make a mistake.
He only celebrated walkoff homeruns (and one runoff inside the park homerun) because you always play the right way.
