A Dram To Remember Part 3
Jim McEwan is a legend in Scotch. He has been with several distilleries for more than half a century. As he helps develop newcomer on Islay Ardnahoe now, he was most recently the master distiller at Bruichladdich. In addition to bringing that distillery back to prominence, he created a few special lines and mixtures that are otherworldly good. The best of those, in my opinion, are Octomore and the Black Art series.
Black Art 4.1 was the last that was done by Jim McEwan himself before he left Bruichladdich. It has a near legendary following, and is getting quite hard to find. I do think that Jim is properly recognized for his prominence and ability, so his influence is baked into the price you will pay. Far be it from me to suggest that $700 is an acceptable price for 75cL of Scotch, but money is just a tool. You make your own decisions.
